God the Father

Jesus took on the shame of the cross to restore our relationship with God the Father. Here are some insights to your heavenly Father.

Important names of God the Father.

YAHWEH or JEHOVAH. These names are written as LORD in English Bibles. It means Self-Existent One or Eternal One.

ELOHIM. Translated as God in English Bibles. It means Strong One/Powerful One.

ADONAI. Translated as Lord in our English Bibles. Means Lord/Master.

The Bible reveals there is a God.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” Psalm 14:1

Creation Reveals God

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Psalm 19:1

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:20

 God has a mind and can think.

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Psalm 139:17

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Romans 11:33

God has Emotions

Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and his heart will be glad when he sees you. Exodus 4:14

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; Psalm 103:13

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

God has a Will

….your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10

God is HOLY (set apart; consecrated; sanctified; pure)

“Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy. Lev 19:2

And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isaiah 6:3

“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Matthew 6:9

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. {15} But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; {16} for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:14-16

God is LOVE

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:8

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. {7} Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. {8} But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:6-8

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1

Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back. Isa 38:17

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:11

We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19
